This project combines an Advantech AMAX-5580 CODESYS PLC with I/O modules, a LoRa gateway, a color sensor, and a Yaskawa motion axis (not shown). The CODESYS application on the PLC moves the axis to various preset positions and reads color. This data and other process parameters are sent via MQTT to a cloud server for recording and analysis.

Shown here are Advantech analog and digital IO modules. These are connected to the PLC via ethernet and accessed from CODESYS via Modbus. The ADAM-6717 module is additionally equipped with a Node-RED application that interacts directly with the MQTT broker and supervises other aspects of the machine operation.

We have used CODESYS visualizations to create a user interface. In this example a dashboard with several tabs was created. Some of the tabs have buttons and indicators which are used for process control and others display various operating parameters.

We designed and manufactured this custom device. The front panel features two recessed control knobs and four indicator lights. The device selects and filters analog signals. An off the shelf hammond enclusure was combined with custom CNC manufactured front and rear panels to acheive the targeted cost.
